Gardening

I don't know if you can really call it "gardening" when it's a few plants on your apartment balcony, but I'm going to give myself a little more credit than is due right now.

My boyfriend has a wonderful vegetable garden at his house, and I'd love to be able to grow my own food!  I'm trying some lettuce this year, since that seems to be easy to grow and it can go bad so quickly in the fridge.  This is my second try this year.  I'm excited because the leaves are actually starting to look like lettuce!

I also bought some pansies this year to plant.  I've never bought an already-grown flower before.  It took me a long time to choose!  I live in Wisconsin and don't get much sun on my balcony so I didn't have many options.  They brighten up my balcony, though!

This is my attempt at growing flowers by seed.  I have balloon flower and lavender in here.  They are not sprouting, so I've put them in plastic, like was recommended, to create something of a greenhouse effect.  Air can still get through, and the water is supposed to cycle itself in here.  I'm hoping it works soon!  If they don't sprout in the next week, I'll just try again and use the plastic right away.
