Yesterday I went to Hobby Lobby and got some beautiful fabrics! I tried to not make anything, but I wanted to so badly, so I told myself I had to do five rows on my blanket first (I'm now leveraging crafts to do other crafts). I started a reversible tote bag. The tutorial can be found here. I was doing well, but my main glitch was that I thought I was just about done, then I realized the handles were INSIDE the bag! I had to rip out the top seam and try again. It was worth it! The bag's not perfect, but it looks pretty good!

I love my new sewing machine!
I won't re-type the title, but I bought my first sewing machine yesterday. I bought a Singer Simple 2263, and although I've only used it one evening, I really do like it. I have no other experience with which to compare it, but what I like about it is that it's easy to use. I, a person who hasn't sewn on a machine except for one disastrous encounter in high school, was able to fill a bobbin, use the automatic needle threader, and manage to sew a project in one night. I DID break two needles, but that was my fault. The needle can only get through so many layers! I made a dpn holder, which is pictured below:
And here's a picture of my sewing machine!
I went to Hobby Lobby and picked up some more fabric and a few supplies today (including needles!). I have a couple projects in mind, but I also want to have some fabric nearby in case I have an inspiration and the stores aren't open. Just what I need...another stash! I already have a yarn stash and a bead stash, but I've managed to keep them, well...manageable. There isn't much space in my little apartment for a huge stash of anything!

New Blog, Fresh Start
Welcome! This is not my first blog, but I'm hoping that this is my first successful blog. What I mean by successful is not how many people visit or how many shares I have, but rather that I am consistent with updating it. I can't control how many people see it, but I can control how well I keep it up-to-date.
In the past I've tried a knitting blog, but I found that didn't work well for me. One of my main projects right now is a large blanket. It's not very interesting. I love knitting it. It's fun, the yarn is soft, and I love the pattern, but it's not interesting to readers to see that it's two inches longer a week later. I've also expanded my interests this year. I'm trying to grow some lettuce and flowers, I'm doing some more cooking, and I've just started to sew! This blog will give me the chance to share those interests, as well as my other interests of knitting, beading, and crafting, and maybe even share a few lesson plans that I'm excited about!
I'm excited to get started and to share what I'm doing with you!
